Squid move by jet propulsion by sucking water into a strong
sac in the middle of it's body and quickly emitting it out of a slender channel.
Squid are related to snails and mollusks.
Squid have blue blood! Their blood is this color because air- carrying
molecules in their blood contain copper which gives their blood a blue color.
Squid have birdlike beaks made for ripping flesh.
Where do they live?
Squid live in the open ocean unlike their cousins the Octopus, that has a
den on the sea floor. Squid lay up to 70,000 eggs at a time and because they
live in the open ocean they lay their eggs on seaweed.
Diet
Squid eat plankton, really small plants, animals that float in the sea,
and even small fish sometimes. Giant squid eat soft fish and even giant
squid who are bigger then themselves. Man that is giant food!! :)
Size
Squid range from the size of 2cm.(which is very small) to 20m.(which is huge).
Squid encounters
There have not been any squid encounters recorded and squid do not eat people.
But they my have killed or even eaten humans to defend their eggs in ancient times.
