Godzilla is a Japanese monster created by Mr.Tomoyuki Tanaka in 1974. (Is 1974 a correct peice of information? I lost my research!)
Mr.Tanaka enjoyed horror films as a child, which led him to creating Godzilla. He was inspired by KingKong films. Godzilla is Mr.Tanaka's eway of expressing feelings, so to speak. Ever since his first appearance, people have loved the havoc caused by Godzilla.
