The Paralympics
The Paralympics have gone back many years, truthfully since 1948. Sir Ludwig Guttmann actually started the Paralympics. He believed that it was good therapy for patients. Guttmann started the Paralympics for the Veterans. The first Paralympics were held at a hospital in Stoke Mandville. The Paralympic slogan is, Spirit in Motion. “Para” in Paralympics stands for parallel (equal to) not paralegic.

The Paralympics are like the Olympics, but the games are a bit different. The Paralympic games are fixed to the convenience of the Paralympions. For example, a visually impaired person that is skiing is allowed to have signals and guides. Some examples of games are wheelchair basketball, goal ball, which is like soccer, wheelchair hockey, judo and more.
