Introduction
Pandas are big bears, very big! They are black and white bears that are about the size of an American Black Bear. Males can grow as large as 250 pounds and females can grow as large as 220 pounds. We like giant pandas because they are very cute and fluffy. But even though they are cute, they can be quite dangerous to humans. Pandas have an amazing life. They are very interesting animals. They live in the mountains of China.
Diet
Pandas eat bamboo. They eat a lot of bamboo. In fact, they may eat twenty pounds of bamboo each day! 98% of their diet is bamboo. To eat all that bamboo, they have very strong molars and very big jaws. Pandas will often roll onto their backs while nibbling bamboo leaves. Sometimes pandas will eat eggs, fish, and honey but mostly just bamboo.

Giant pandas can climb very well. They are active both day and night. Unlike other bears, giant pandas do not hibernate. Giant pandas spend a lot of their time hunting for food and over half the day eating.
They are one of the most endangered animals on the earth due to being hunted for their fur. There are only about 1600 wild pandas left in the world. Until 1997, anyone who killed a panda in China would be put to death. Now if someone kills a panda they will have to spend 20 years in jail. Only about 20 live outside of China. These few pandas are in zoos.
